Third Party Endorsements of eBay Members

Third party logos, services, or representations that appear to validate, verify or claim trustworthiness of eBay members are not permitted on eBay. Further, while members may include elements of their eBay reputation (eg: feedback rating) in listings, members may not manipulate eBay information or make claims based on eBay reputation that are unverifiable by the buyer who is looking at the listing.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Account suspension

Guarantees of the transaction or item, but not the seller

  • “Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back”

  • “Protected transaction guaranteed to $25,000”

Seller confidence

  • “Buy with confidence! Check out my 1,000+ positive feedback”

  • “Member of the FDIC”

Not Permitted:

  • Seal that endorses a seller, for example “Trusted seller” or “Reliable seller” · Seal that manipulates eBay feedback, for example "100% positive feedback in authentic watches"

eBay does not verify the authenticity or trustworthiness of third party verification services. Therefore, third party endorsements of eBay members can create an unsafe marketplace. Manipulations of eBay’s reputation system (feedback system, PowerSeller programme, etc.) may confuse or mislead buyers, which also can create an unsafe marketplace.
