Genz Benz Shuttle 300. An amazing 2.75 lb amp & an even more amazing combo!
First of all, this item was improperly listed as a 3.0 18T. Genz Benz only makes the 300 shuttle combo as a 6T with a 6" speaker, and an 8T with an 8" speaker. I purchased the 6T. I play a USA Peavey Cirrus 4-string through it. The concept is that the head sits in a chassis mounted atop the speaker cabinet, making for a very compact lightweight combo amp. It is pretty amazing the amount of sound that comes from this neodymium 6" speaker cabinet that weighs 12 lbs. The cabinet is 8 ohms, and the head puts out 175 watts at 8 ohms. I use this set up for weddings, practice and gigs in VERY small locations. The tone is amazing, and there is considerable low end for a 6" speaker. The head is only 2.75 pounds. It has a 4- band eq (4 rotary tone controls) and 3 modeling switches for extra high end, extra low end, and mid scoop. Although the settings are simplified, you have a TON of tone control with the rotary tone controls and these three switches. When the head is mounted on the speaker cabinet, the rig only weighs 13.75 pounds and is approximately 14" x 14" x 12"! For club gigs where I need more power, the head puts out 300 watts at 4 ohms. I dismount the head from the 6" cabinet (easy to do!) and play it through a Carvin 2-10 4ohm cabinet with an adjustable tweeter. I get every bit of the 300 watts this way- it's loud! If I need more or to balance for the house, I run a line out of the head to the club's sound system. My rig consists of the Genz Benz 300 Shuttle head, an Alesis Nanocompressor (compressor/limiter) and the Carvin 2-10 speaker cabinet. The head and the nanocompressor fit into a very small padded laptop bag along with my cords. I then carry the 2-10 cabinet (45 lbs.) I can come to the gig with the speaker in one hand, my bass in the other, and the head and compressor in the laptop bag strung over my shoulder... nice! I might also mention that Genz Benz has a "gig bag" for the rig for around $130.00. Instead I bought a KACES cajon bag on eBay that fits incredibly well. The bag is REALLY well padded, and allows extra room for extension cords, tambourine, cables, etc. It's much better padded than the Genz Benz bag, and the extra room is a big plus so you can carry EVERYTHING except your bass in one shoulder bag when you're using the 6T combo setup. I love showing up at a small gig with one bag over my shoulder with the amp, speaker and everything else, and my bass in the other hand! All you would need
These are durable, hold multiple sheets (I put 3-8.5 x 11 sheets in each one) . For the cost if you tear one, or whatever, replace it with another, instead of spending 2-3x more for thicker ones that really don't do a better job.
