Quilters Travel Companion by Audrey Anderson 2006-2008
The Quilters' Travel Companion has recently been updated to the 9th Edition, 2006 - 2008. The guide is organized by state and it now also includes a section for Canada and the Bahamas. If you are a frequent traveler, RV'er or just love to check out the quilt shops wherever you may go, this guide will be an enormous asset. This guide is the most complete quilt shop guide that I have come across. The book lists 1,950 featured shops which all have an ad (small 1/8 page up to full page). The ads list the special features and merchandise descriptions of each shop, often include a small city map to easily locate the store as well as their hours and contact information. In addition to the featured shops, addresses and phone numbers are included for an extra 1,000 shops. At the beginning of each state section, there is a full page map with locator dots. This is a helpful overview that gives you an idea of the largest concentrations of shops, or if an unexpected little town on your route just happens to have a quilt shop. A few blank areas for notes are included. Some quilters have the quilt shop owners along the way sign their book as a memento of their travels. Another new section in the 9th edition is a Shop Hop guide. This chapter will give you some guidelines for dates and shops participating in Shop Hops across the country. If you are an avid quilter like me, you never want to miss a new shop that crosses your path. The Quilters' Travel Companion will help you be sure that you never do!
