About

As a philatelist of more than 50 years -- collecting, buying/selling, handling estate collections, rest assured when the Make Offer logo is posted an offer is welcome. Due to recent extreme low-ball offers, there are now minimums, but those minimums are most likely below the opening bid. Stamp collecting is a fun, educational, and relaxing hobby. Pricing is based usually upon the stamp itself. Though there are certified stamps available, there is little need if a collector reads (and owns) references by experts such as Stanley Ashford, John L. Luff, and Mortimer Neinken. If the names are new, check them/their literary work out. And, having a few of the current experts readily available makes life in the world of philatelics even a little better.

New 2022 Scott Specialized Catalog US Postage Stamp & Covers Best US Referance
Dec 22, 2021
Scott Publishers Blew it With the 2022 US Specialized
Scott Publishers blew it with this year's catalogue. Unless you absolutely need one to figure out values or approximate values of modern issues, this book is a waste of money... a lot of money. They removed the two sections which benefitted most experienced collectors: The pricing by grading guide (or as a dealer friend noted, The Yellow Pages) and the Stamp Identifier pages at the very beginning of the catalogue to help in differentiating the 19th and 20th Century sets of similar design. The catalogue editors indicate they did it for the collector so that it would not be necessary to flip back and forth in the catalogue, but now they sell those additional pages as separate books (more money!!! imagine that). Scott is interested in dollars and not really helping collectors. I might have swallowed the change, if the catalogue price had decreased to compensate for the new book that must be purchased but they didn't. In the end, if you find a good used catalogue buy it -- you will save on the cost of the catalogue and the headache of missing pages forcing the purchase of yet another book (which is laughable that they call it a first edition... those Franklin-Washington issues and banknotes are not changing).

Olympus Camedia C4000 4.0m/p
This model of Olympus is a bit dated considering rapid advances in technology, but for use in a classroom -- it is fantastic. This camera operates on 4 AA batteries, which is a convenience in a setting where running to the store is not an option. In addition, the camera is lightweight, yet durable enough for students to use with their assignments, too. Additionally, Olympus software appears to be universal within the Olympus family. This is the third similar Olympus purchased!

Virgin Island Bay Rum by Clubman for Men 12.0 oz Brand New
Jun 22, 2018
Why it does and does not work...
Purchased this in hopes of enjoying the memories of my youth at the barber shop with my granddad. The scent is close, but not quite the same as the Avon Bay Rum decanter which I have had since 1967. I read reviews about the scent not remaining long, but found it to be comparable to other men's colognes/aftershaves. What it lacks in authentic smell it more than makes up for in quantity. The only real disappointment with this product is the cheap plastic container in which it arrived. Did I mention how cheap the plastic feel is in comparison to the days of glass? Put it in a glass container even at a little more expense and there'd be nothing wrong with it.
