A CD well beyond expectations.
I knew Neidlinger as one of the Wagnerian singers of the 50's but the Rosenkavalier Ochs portrayal was utterly wonderful - sad that it did not come from a full recording but an "extracts" one. That and him in the Mozart Gärtnerin aus Liebe has me chasing out other Neidlinger recordings. My money well spent!

A wonderful 50's performance
I'm a great fan of 50's German opera broadcasts and its performers so almost anything on the Walhall label is of interest. It's material that doesn't make into today's stage repertoire. An insight into life before the airliner took opera stars everywhere.
