I'm on a treasure hunt.
Every day, at about noon, after finishing shipping my packages, I head to my favorite thrift store. I'm what you might call a regular in about 10 Stores, but this one is my favorite. The staff gives me a friendly wave as I head to the racks of new additions and go through them piece by piece. I can feel cashmere and merino wool, but I can also find a Lululemon or Outlier garment by touch. There is a color coding system that tells me exactly how long a piece has been there and when it will be on sale. I wait some out and take others.
Brand. Materials Design. I find them. And often, with a gasp or a knowing chuckle, I put them in the cart and head to the counter. I chat with workers about what is special about the garments. I think they like learning.
I was in there one day, and a child asked their mom, "Who would anyone want someone's old clothes?" I would. I do.
