About us

We are a family upholding the legacy of craftsmanship passed down by our great grandfather, Mr. Hakam Din. He was a skilled wood-tuner and crafted his first bagpipe in the 1890s, a masterpiece now enshrined in the National Museum of Scotland, Museum of Piping. Mr. Din's passion transcended bagpipes, extending to flutes, clarinets, bugles to sousaphones, drums and string instruments.

The art of hand-crafting instruments, courses through our family's veins, passed from heart to heart and generation to generation. Our experienced elders shape instruments, infusing every piece with precision. Simultaneously, the young ones lends a helping hand, learning the art, ensuring its continuity for future generations.

Each instrument that we craft with the name Hakam Din tells a story and serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to the old style of craftsmanship.

The barrels were exactly as described. And honestly I love them. They rival my Backun barrel at the fraction of the cost. The response and focus is wonderful and the intonation in the altissimo registers is better than my Backun barrel. They even threw in a bell which works better than my stock bell. Shipment timing was reasonable as well!

The clarinet is nicely finished just like the photos. I was easily able to play a scale right away. The mouthpiece and reed were not very good but it plays well with my mouthpiece and reed from my modern clarinet. It will take a lot of practice to become proficient but I am very pleased with this instrument.
