When the Age Of Recorded Music began (about 1900), the musical forms of Jazz, Rock, Blues & much else did not exist. Fans of these genres might wonder why their invention took 250,000 years. Prior to 1900, all music was live, scarce & euphemeral.
In the several decades following 1900 – the genres, styles & rhythms of music expanded exponentially. This is not a coincidence. Something quite remarkable had occurred. When music can be recorded, musicians can do what was once impossible - play back the music just performed and also hear the music performed by others. These brains “light up” & go on to create a delightful array of musical innovations.
At darbyncoates, we think that these first analog recordings made in the 1st Century Of Recorded Music are a celebration of human achievement, and represent a value much like other great art forms (paintings, sculptures, literature). They are confirmation of the finest characteristics of the human spirit.
