X-COM: Terror from the Deep is the sequel to the science-fiction strategy game X-COM. The game mechanics are pretty much unchanged from the original, remaining a combination turn-based and real-time strategy game. The player is in control of the X-COM agency and faces the alien attackers in a new realm: undersea! Tactical missions can now take place underwater and a whole host of new equipment and weapons are available to the player. Terrestrial missions are sometimes still necessary as well. <br><br>The tactical missions are turn-based. You view the battlefield from a 45 degree downward perspective and your view is limited to what is in the line-of-sight of your troops. When your troops aren't in the field, the game moves at a variable real-time rate. As administrator of X-COM, you must gain support from the world's nations in order to maintain adequate funding. You select where to build bases and place sensors to scan for alien activity. You set the priorities for research and construction.
