Originally conceived of as "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Tower of Mystery," Tower of Doom was in mid-production when Mattel Electronics went belly up. Luckily, for AD&D fans, INTV finished the program, though they changed the title to avoid licensing fees. The game has players guiding one of ten different characters (barbarian, warlord, knight, etc.) through ten different labyrinthine adventures, opening doors; collecting treasure, weapons, and food; and fighting or bargaining with monsters. The objective in each trap-ridden level is to escape via the exit. Randomized mazes, a variety of characters, colorfully detailed graphics, and a weapons inventory system make this game a winner for fans of action adventures.
