About this product

Product Information

The churches of our villages, towns and cities are an essential part of our national heritage. In the past 20 years, many redundant churches have been saved from neglect or demolition by the Redundant Churches Fund. These churches are often allocated a suitable alternative use, thus benefitting the local community and preserving buildings which may be of considerable historical and archaeological interest. In 1989, the Department of the Environment and the Church Commissioners appointed the author to review the current arrangements for the operation and financing of the Redundant Churches Fund. His recommendations cover aspects of finance and organization; the process of vesting; divesting and leasing; stewardship of the Redundant Churches Fund's properties and staffing.
