The game's plot progresses by advancing a select team of three fighters and defeating waves of AI teams. Once the team has reached the end, Ash Crimson turns on Saiki, the host of the tournament, to stop him from stealing Orochi’s power. This becomes the final boss battle, and their fighting takes them through a portal that literally changes the flow of time.In addition to the story mode, several other modes of play are available. The "King of Fighters" arcade match that pits two teams of combatants against each other in round after round of heavy battle will test your skills.
