The Gunstringer is a Wild West shoot-'em-up adventure, presented as a theatrical performance and played with string-puppet characters. Using actual hand and arm motions, in view of the Kinect sensors, players manipulate virtual strings that control an onscreen marionette hero. The main character is a skeleton cowboy, on a mission of revenge against the posse that betrayed him. With both 2D and 3D play styles, the action involves platforming challenges, controlling the puppet with the right hand, and third-person shooting with the left hand. On-rail sequences allow players to blast away with both hands. The game plays out in four main stages with two acts each, and settings inspired by Spaghetti Western films. Replay is encouraged by hidden collectibles and unlockable abilities. The Gunstringer was developed by Twisted Pixel, creator of the popular, story-driven Xbox Live Arcade games, Comic Jumper and 'Splosion Man.
