About this product

Product Information

The Sporting News Baseball is endorsed by the Major League Baseball Player's Association and therefore includes all of the real-life players. There are also 150 baseball legends featured, such as Babe Ruth and Willie Mays. However, there is no Major League Baseball license so no team names or logos are included.

You can play against a friend, the computer, or watch the computer play itself. Exhibition games are all that can be played as there are no season or championship features. Trading and drafting are possible so that you can create the ultimate team. The Sporting News Baseball contains many statistics for each player and provides a detailed box score at the end of each game.

During pitching and batting sequences the view is from behind the batter. The current hitter, his batting average, the current pitcher, his ERA, and the number of pitches thrown are all on the screen at this time. Three separate windows also appear at this time, one for each base regardless of whether there is a baserunner or not.
