The ultimate in city simulations is SimCity 2000, allowing the player to pursue fantasies of building and running a city, limited only by his imagination. This sequel to the hugely-successful SimCity adds a new element of realism and a host of new features to the original. The player must zone Residential, Industrial and Commercial areas of town. Roads must be placed, and every zone must be supplied with power and water. Education, City Services and Recreation must be provided for the happiness of the Sim citizens. This must all be accomplished while staying within budgetary constraints and achieving the approval of the city's citizens. In SimCity 2000, cities are displayed in 3-D isometric views, and the more efficiently a city is running, the further the buildings in the city will evolve. If an area does not receive enough attention, it will fall into decay and the resident Sims will look for housing elsewhere. In addition to the original SimCity 2000 program, the Special Edition also contains the Urban Renewal Kit, which allows the player to customize existing SimCity buildings or to design his own from scratch, as well as Scenarios Volume 1, a collection of cities-in-progress that offer unique challenges to conquer.
