Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed SE adds two new tracks to the original game, bringing the total number of circuits up to eight. Another enhancement allows you to race in the morning, noon, or night. Four racing views are available -- in-car, heli-cam, road-cam and tail-cam -- and can be changed on the fly. Up to eight players can participate via network play (LAN), or single players can face off against computer-controlled drivers. The eight tracks include generic types like city, coastal, desert, and alpine as well as specifically labeled courses, such as Autumn Valley Speedway, Burnt Sienna, Vertigo Ridge, and an obstacle-type track through an industrial wasteland, Transtropolis. Race challenges come in four separate modes: tournament, head-to-head, single-race, and time trials. Choose from eight unique world-class automobiles, each with a full historical perspective as well as mechanical specifications, real life video, speed capabilities, and statistics. Choices include the Ferrari 512TR, Lamborghini Diablo VT, Acura NSX, Dodge Viper RT/10, Toyota Supra Turbo, Corvette ZR-1, Porsche 911 Carrera, and Mazda RX-7.
