Setting out to dwarf all previous installments in the Resident Evil franchise with enhanced gameplay and visual sophistication, Capcom billed Resident Evil 6 as the most feature rich of the survival horror games to date. It was released for the Xbox 360, as well as for the PlayStation 3 (PS3), in October 2012, then, as testament to its enduring appeal, was ported to the PC in 2013 and re-released in 2016 for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One. Resident Evil 6 for the Xbox 360 features favorite characters from previous Resident Evil video games such as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Sherry Birkin, alongside a cast of new stars such as Jake Muller, Ada Wong and Derek C. Simmons. Thanks to its use of motion capture animations, the game is more lifelike than any before it, with a cinematic script and complex, engaging storyline consisting of three interwoven narrative threads. Players can choose either solo gameplay or co-operative mode (including online co-operative play) to tackle the three main campaign stories, each of which has two protagonists, along with the unlockable Ada Wong campaign. Leon S. Kennedy is accompanied by US government agent Helena Harper, for example, while Chris Redfield is accompanied by BSAA member Piers Nivans. When stories cross over and characters team up in greater numbers, up to four players can play co-op mode at once. Players upgrade characters as the game progresses, enhancing their attributes with increased firepower, faster reload speed, and greater health. Following Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 has a third-person shooter perspective. Beyond the innovative new gameplay, Capcom have also upgraded the zombies in Resident Evil 6, giving them unprecedented powers of running and jumping at players, as well as wielding weapons. Other enemies in the game include the J’avo, whose bodies respond to damage by mutating the affected area, along with the various creatures that emerge from the Chrysalid stage of mutation. Set across a wide range of global locales, including North America, Eastern Europe and China, Resident Evil 6 has the visceral sense of biohazard disaster on a pandemic scale. Some other new additions are the ability to drive vehicles, ranging between motorbikes, cars and snowmobiles, at specific points of the game. Characters can shoot while moving in Resident Evil 6, a new control system that allows for evasive rolls and taking cover, while melee combat has also been significantly improved. In addition to the single player and co-operative campaign, Resident Evil 6 sees the return of the popular Mercenaries mode, a timed challenge to earn points by killing hordes of zombie enemies. The game also includes the Agent Hunt mode, which is unlocked after completion of the story mode. In Agent Hunt, players randomly control enemies in other human players’ games online. This Xbox 360 game includes voiceovers in a range of languages – English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian – and subtitles in Japanese, Russian, Polish, Brazilian, and Portuguese. It has a rating of M for mature gamers.
