Set in the 16th centure, Nobunaga Senki deals with the historic wars in ancient Japan. The game itself is part adventure, part strategy game. In the adventure portions of Nobunaga Senki, players interact with characters via the multipath "Moshimo If" adventure system. When it comes to battle, the game switches to 2D strategy charts and isometric battle maps. Players maintain their army, set strategies, move units, and fight out the battles waged by famous warlord Oda Nobunaga. The supporting cast of historical characters includes Toukichirou Kinoshita, Katuie Shibata, Mitsuhide Akechi, and Motoyasu Matsudaira.
