NotesDouble vinyl LP pressing. 2014 collection of solo tracks from the British singer/songwriter and former frontman for the Jam and the Style Council. Starting with the band the Jam (1976 - 82), Weller went on to branch out musically to a more soulful style with the Style Council (1983 - 89). in 1991 he established himself as a successful solo artist and remains a respected singer, lyricist and guitarist. By the mid-'90s, he had released three successful albums that were both critically acclaimed and massively popular in England, where contemporary bands like Ocean Color Scene were citing him as an influence. Just as importantly, many observers, while occasionally criticizing the traditional rock nature of his music, acknowledged that Weller was one of the few rock veterans who had managed to stay vital within the second decade of his career.
