The spectacular and dynamic views of the Pacific Ocean come into view throughout the golfing experience at the Island of Hawaii's Mauna Kea championship golf course. The Links Design Team has created a visual counterpart to the real thing with their release of Links Championship Course: Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea, located along the Kohala Coast, for years was rated as Hawaii's best course, quite an accolade considering the number of stunning courses built on the islands. Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed and built Mauna Kea in 1964 on an ancient lava flow, moving and molding, shaping and shifting the natural terrain into a stunning vision of lushly carpeted fairways and greens surrounded by indigenous trees and flowers, nestled in a volcanic wasteland. The course has been the recipient of several prestigious awards in the past including a listing by Golf Digest as one of "Americas 100 Greatest" and Golf Magazine's Gold Medal as one of the 12 "Best Golf Resorts in America." The most famous hole is the par 3 third hole that has the golfer playing an iron across the rolling waves of a Pacific Ocean inlet. Links Championship Course: Mauna Kea can be used with various Access golfing products including Links and Links 386 Pro and is even compatible with Links LS 99, assuming the user has the first disk of the original floppy set or a CD version for use in the conversion process.
