In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, gamers navigate an exciting, multiplayer game that gives them the chance to explore Kirby's world. The story begins when a ship full of aliens lands on the peaceful Planet Pop Star. Pieces of the ship splinter off and scatter across the world, and Kirby is tasked with finding all of the missing parts. As he continues on his trek, he encounters hidden treasure, inhales his enemies, and fights dastardly villains. This isn't a solo mission, as Kirby is accompanied on his adventure by characters like King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee. These characters are also playable, and multiple gamers can jump in, play, and join the fun. With a release date of 2011, this Wii video game developed by HAL Laboratory gives gamers the chance to deploy additional abilities as well as use classic Kirby powers. The famous ‘copy’ power is once again available in this game as in previous installments like Kirby Super Star and the Dream Collection. Characters can swallow enemies whole and use this power to transform and gain strength. The Sword power gives Kirby the chance to wield a sword. When Kirby's Beam power is activated, he uses a magic wand to shoot energy and vanquish foes. When he uses his Whip power, he swings a lasso to capture enemies. He can also use the Leaf power, which instantly surrounds him with a pile of swirling leaves. This release also gives everyone's favorite pink hero special super abilities. These are activated when Kirby inhales his enemies. These super powers include the Ultra Sword Super Ability. This allows Kirby to vanquish multiple enemies with one sweep of his sword. Gamers can also collect point stars. These augment the score. There are also blue stars to collect, which allow access to bonus levels. Items introduced in this game include the Invisibility Stone, the Balloon Bomb, the Candle, the Prism Shield, the Fireworks Cracker, and the Stomper Boot. These items give characters access to new powers. This multiplayer Wii U game allows as many as four players to get involved in the action simultaneously. Multiple gamers can cooperate to find the hidden alien ship pieces and battle bad guys. Players also have the option to hop in and out of the games whenever they want to. For multiplayer games, additional controllers are needed and are sold separately. Return to Dream Land has the nonstop side-scrolling action characteristic of all the games in this series. It also takes players to exciting new locales within Kirby's fictional world. Fun settings like tropical beaches, lush forests, and more look lovingly rendered on the Wii system.
