A dual-core processor, the Intel Core i5 2430M integrates two cores to provide, in effect, two separate processors running simultaneously. With L3 cache, direct media interface, PCI express 2.0 interface, memory controller, and graphics processing unit, the Intel Core i5 2430M has a base frequency of 2.4 GHz which has the capability to be increased to 3 GHz if the chip functions within its thermal and power limits. With features such as low-power states as well as SpeedStep technology, the Intel processor reduces power consumption in active as well as idle states. The Intel processor has a number of other enhanced features which increase reliability and functionality, which include extended memory 64 technology (EM64T), hyper-threading technology, Intel turbo boost technology, virtualisation technology, AES new instructions, and execute disable bit.
