Hello Kitty, that cute little white kitten who loves making friends, is back in an adventure for the Game Boy Color. Brought to you by the developer Torus Games and published by NewKidCo, LLC, Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy is an action-puzzle game that was published nearly simultaneously with a version of the game for the PlayStation. As the story begins, Hello Kitty falls asleep while enjoying herself on vacation. She awakens surrounded by the smell of hibiscus flowers on an unfamiliar island. She is confused, lost and totally unaware that the mischievous little penguin, Badtz-Maru has played a trick on her. She is trapped in a strange world and must journey through 11 magical lands, including Beach Girl, Soccer Stadium, Space Travel and Snow Mountain to find her way home. These lands are filled with falling candy-colored cubes, as well as her enemies, the mean little Badtz-Maru, the bad-tempered panda girl Pandaba and the soccer-playing seal Hana-Maru that all threaten to keep her from returning. Each of the 11 fantasy worlds consists of three levels (stages). You must clear these levels by piling the falling cubes up so Hello Kitty can climb them to collect prizes. Be careful not to get hit by falling cubes, these stun Kitty and it takes while for her to catch her breath. After gathering all the items and clearing all three levels of a world you can choose the next world to go to. You start at the Floral Resort, which is the practice area, so take your time to learn how to play before traveling to a new land! The game offers three modes of play, Story, Extra and Free Play. The Story mode can be accessed when you first start the game, finish a game or load a saved game. This opens an interactive Story Book that has fun facts about Hello Kitty and changes based on the world you are in. The Extra mode appears after you have cleared all the lands (levels) and you can play the game as other Sanrio characters. Free Play allows you to return and play any of the lands that you have already completed. As an added bit of information, Hello Kitty loves fashion and will be wearing different outfits in each world you travel to. Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy offers sound effects and music, both of which can be turned on and off through the game Options menu, as well as three levels of difficulty (easy, normal and hard). Through the Options menu you can also create a Password to restore a game in progress.
