All you have to do is open the front cover, flip up the cover over the ink tank, and pull the cartridge straight out. To print photos, there is a second tricolor cartridge which replaces the black cartridge. The result is photos that are printed with six colors, which means you get a reproduction of the image that looks just like the picture you took. For gray-scale pictures, there is a gray cartridge replacement.
