The Garmin 16x LVS is a high-sensitivity GPS sensor with internal receiver and antenna. The Garmin GPS receiver provides information regarding the position, velocity, time, receiver status, satellite status, differential reference station ID, RTCM data age, geometry, and error estimates via RS-232 at programmable rates from 4800 to 38400 baud. Output can be either NMEA 0183 sentences at intervals from 1 to 900 seconds or as binary data. The WAAS-enabled Garmin GPS receiver has differential DGPS capability and accepts RTCM corrections. The one PPS timer on the Garmin 16x LVS has a variable pulse width from 20 millisiemens to 80 millisiemens. The GPS sensor requires a regulated supply between 3.3 volts and 6 volts at 90 mA with less than 100 millivolts of ripple and draws less than 10 uA during standby. Packaged in a black polycarbonate thermoplastic case that is waterproof at a depth of 9.8 feet for 30 minutes, the Garmin GPS receiver is operational from minus 22 degrees F to 176 degrees F. The sensor weighs 6 oz and measures 3.6 inches in diameter by 1.7 inches high.
