Man carried forward many strange beliefs and histories regarding the ancients -- old memories and records ranging from appearance to deeds. But the ancients didn't die. They created ancient artifacts of great significance. Fed by the human lust for power, these artifacts, known as The Collection, through the ages have influenced mankind, collectively and individually from the lowliest to most powerful human beings. They have both exalted and corrupted mankind with glorious and disastrous events, dependent entirely upon the will of those in possession. Those who possess these artifacts become Collectors and eventually reap the benefits or horrors of their actions. As man uses the artifacts for good or evil, power is transferred to the ancients. If overused or used for too long a period, the Collector becomes The Hunted and loses his or her very soul and is "collected." And now, it begins. Such is the opening story of this mystery adventure where you, the player, arrive in the French Quarter of New Orleans in 1930. You arrive in the very heart of voodoo culture, an unwilling but captive participant in the search for the renowned Richard Haliburton, explorer and archeologist who has suddenly disappeared. You delve into the most secluded corners, search ancient hidden passages, discover clues and even more mystery as you relentlessly try to track Haliburton down. At the heart of your adventure will be the ancient artifacts and the deadly, sinister secrets they hold. The storyline unfolds as you search, ever deeper into the mysteries surrounding Haliburton's surprise disappearance. And, oh, by the way, you have no money, no identification and no idea how you got there. But it gets worse -- you have no memory or clue as to who you are! Your only lifeline is the letter from Haliburton that seemingly has triggered your current situation. The Forgotten: It Begins utilizes 3D environments and an onscreen icon-based point-and-click movement system. Gameplay is effected through a first-person perspective and an inventory management system as you solve puzzles, ferret out clues and investigate your mysterious surroundings.
