In Football for the Atari 2600, each team has only three players. On defense, you must position your men to stop the opponent from gaining any yardage as they march toward your end zone. On offensive, you can pass, run and punt. You score points by crossing the opponent's end zone to score a touchdown (seven points) or by tackling your opponent in their end zone for a safety (two points). The game does not allow field goals or fumbles.<br><br>On both offense and defense, you call the plays by selecting from a playbook of five offensive and five defensive plays. Choose your play by moving the joystick in the proper direction or pressing the fire button before the down begins.<br><br>Football is for two players only.
