Continuing the series of add-ons for the Microsoft Flight Simulator that began in 1998 with FS Flight Deck, developer Abacus Software expands the aircraft carrier theme by offering players flight operations of the E-2C Hawkeye, F-14 Tomcat, CH-46 Sea Knight, AV-8B II Harrier, and F/A-18 Hornet. The carrier showcased in Flight Deck II, the USS Nimitz, has been replaced with a fully realized replication of the USS <i>George Washington</i> (CVN 73), with operations located in the Gulf of Mexico, the Sea of Japan, the Bay of Biscay, and the Persian Gulf.<br><br>Flight Deck III highlights a newly developed realistic ArrCab (ArrestorCable) program that accurately reflects catapult launches, cable grabs, damage, and animated blast shields. In addition to the realism provided by the flight dynamics and cockpits of the five aircraft, other features include dozens of pre-designed flights, complete integration compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, fuel transfer operations, animated pilot heads, night-lighting, authentic squadron colors, and random battle damage.
