This family fun pack features Myst, SimCity 2000, Asteroids, Monopoly, and 3D Ultra MiniGolf. Just like in the Asteroids of yore, this rendition has players piloting a triangular ship around the screen, blasting volcanic space rocks until they are gone. Features include space rocks of varying attributes such as alien egg asteroids, ancient energy asteroids, crystal asteroids, and indestructible asteroids. Other unique types of laser fodder include space debris and fireball comets. Flying saucers and other enemies are guarding five zones of galactic gameplay. Wildcard weapons include mines, trigger bombs, robo walls, homing missiles, and nine other exotic forces of destruction. Four different ships are available, and each ship is rated according to rotation, thrust, shields, and firepower. The game includes single- and multiplayer modes in single-screen, simultaneous action. In the two-player mode, gamers race to destroy large asteroid belts. Monopoly players can play with up to six players against computer opponents, over same screen, LAN, and the Internet. Rule options such as auctions, unlimited houses and hotels, parking fines, and hidden cash offer more depth than the original Monopoly board game. In SimCity 2000, players become the mayor, engineer, and planner for a patch of land destined for the metropolis hall of fame. Some items are "zoned," others are placed by the player. This open-ended simulation game does not have a specific "win" condition, though specialized scenarios are included with the package that do involve win conditions. Items such as roads, schools, hospitals, police stations, fire stations, train stations, rail lines, power plants, special items can be placed. When you reach a certain population, underground pipes for water, and subway stations and routes are added to the construction features. Players may zone for residential, commercial, industrial, and port districts. Amenities such as parks, zoos, stadiums, and yacht clubs can be placed and will increase the land value. The city will receive money from taxes, bonds, and special ordinances placed upon the "sims" who live in the area. All zones and buildings cost money to place except for some special items awarded at specific population levels. Putters and AstroTurf are back in a big way with 3D Ultra MiniGolf, which features two nine-hole courses. Golfers encounter environmental hazards, pesky insects, and worst of all: other competition! 3D Ultra MiniGolf can connect with up to four players for an intense battle. With two different styles of putting to choose from, EasyPutt for one-click putting, or TruePutt, which lets players control the force and angle of the putt, 3D Ultra MiniGolf can be played by novices and MiniGolf masters alike. Myst is an award winning first-person graphical adventure set across static backdrops or inanimate scenic artwork. Using a navigational system, players will point and click to reach certain destinations, interact with various items, and manipulate puzzles. Item collection comes in the form of literature and certain types of keys. Although reading the literature isn't important, the various documents offer vague clues as to what players should be doing. The main aspect of gameplay comes in the form of puzzle solving. Unlike many graphical adventures, Myst focuses on puzzles of the logical type and tests of skill that include sights, sounds, and the ability to distinguish between patterns.
