Product Information
Another in a series of games from DreamCatcher that explores exotic locales and lands out of time, Egypt 1156 B. C.: Tomb of the Pharaoh takes you back to a time 3000 years distant, during the reign of Ramses III. Using gameplay similar to that in other titles such as Beyond Atlantis, The Crystal Key, Beyond Time and The Sacred Amulet among others, the game offers mysteries and exploration shrouded in 3D environments.

Also known under the title Pharaoh's Gold: An Egyptian Adventure, the game puts you in the shoes of Ramose in the role of detective. You must visit various sites throughout ancient Egypt and look for clues and evidence that will exonerate your father who has been imprisoned for stealing valuable treasures from a royal tomb.

Your quest to prove your father's innocence will lead you to exotic and strange locales such as the Great Temple of Karnak, the tomb of Sethi I and the village of Deir el-Medineh, as well as tombs and great houses of nobles and other Egyptian workers and citizens. You'll visit an embalmer, elude the royal guard and travel over water and land to reach your destinations.

Egypt 1156 B. C.: Tomb of the Pharaoh contains documentation, accessible via in-game indexing and icons, of historical note with topics covering various aspects of ancient Egypt during Ramses III's rule. Earth, the time in relation to the rest of the world, the people of Egypt, language (hieroglyphics), the many pharaohs and the various gods worshipped during that era are but some of the subjects you can read about during the game.

Time in the game is of two types: linear and duration. In the former, you will be allowed to explore certain places only once due to restrictions imposed by the guards or circumstances surrounding a specific locale. The latter allows more in-depth exploration at certain locales such as the "city of cities" Ouaset where you have three days to investigate.

Other features in the game include gameplay options such as adjustment of the speed of navigation, display of subtitles, music and various help files. The interface is mainly point-and-click in conjunction with onscreen icons and menus and uses a "smart" cursor that changes shapes depending on what action is available.

Additionally, a "mini-game" is available during play. Senet, a board/tile style game, comes from ancient Egypt and is played by two players (you against the computer in this case). Each player gets seven pawns at the beginning of the game, set up alternately on the first 14 squares of a board containing a total of 30 squares. Through a series of "stick tosses" (there are four with decorations on one side only), the idea is to be the first player to remove all of his or her pawns from the board.

Various combinations of "stick toss" results, squares with unique properties and rules, blocking tactics and specific "roll" requirements to extricate your pawns from the last three squares of the board constitute the strategic play of this ancient game.Product Identifiers
