Between 1966 and 1979 Australians, and South Australians in particular, were compelled to come to terms with a heinous series of crimes, the infamous Truro and 'Family' murders. A group of people were so badly affected that they looked around for mutual support. Their courage and inspiration motivated others to join Victims of Crime Service (VOCS), later renamed Victim Support Service. This independent organisation has since helped thousands of crime victims and developed unique models of therapeutic care, which are considered outstanding in Australia and are known throughout the world of Victimology. In Crime, It Can Happen to You we meet the early pioneers, hear victims' stories and begin to understand what turns a victim into a survivor. Jo Robinson, a survivor of crime, had an extensive career as an Allied Health professional before joining VSS and training as a Court Companion.
