In Celtic Tales: Balor of the Evil Eye you are one of eighteen rulers in Eire whose purpose is to re-unite the tribes through negotiation, diplomacy, or might. Your main focus is to become the High Ruler of Eire and then, once the land is united, battle the Other World enemies, the Fomors, with your ultimate goal the conquest of their leader, Balor. Recruiting bards, druids, and warriors, you choose to play as one of nine possible characters from the Celtic Tales.<br><br>After the struggle to assemble all the Eire tribes as your followers and reaching the plateau of High Ruler of Eire, you then search for runes which will supply your bards and druids with needed magic in the fight against the Fomors and Balor. There is one big catch, though, before you can have the pleasure of challenging Balor to the final battles. In order to reach him, you and your minions will first have to face Balor's second in command, Connan, to take control over the territory where the Fomors have been encamped, and gain the High Ruler's spear, the Gae Bolga. Once accomplished, you turn your sights on Tory Island, Balor's stronghold. <br><br>The battle is long and fraught with danger. You must learn to use your skills, weapons, items, abilities and magic runes in order to defeat Balor of the Evil Eye. It is not a quest for the light-hearted.
