Based on the classic PC game from 1988, Carrier Command: Gaea Mission takes place in the near future and puts players in control of an advanced aircraft carrier on the planet Taurus. Gamers battle for control of 33 distinct islands by outfitting their sea and land units and then issuing orders from their command center, or by taking control of any individual unit and leading the assault directly. Players can seamlessly transition between action and strategy, move to different units at any time, and switch from a first-person view to third-person view at any time.<br><br>The main plot finds gamers working their way up from an outnumbered underdog to a seasoned commander, while the Free Roam Strategy mode is an ode to the original game, with players challenging an enemy carrier through the six climates and 33 islands. To keep a steady supply of fuel and ammo headed to their units, Xbox 360 users must also make strategic choices with regard to mining, manufacturing, defense, and vehicle upgrades.
