Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the second title in the Modern Warfare trilogy. It picks up five years after the events of the first Modern Warfare title. The story once again follows Captain Soap MacTavish as he seeks to protect the United States from terrorist forces. Modern Warfare 2 was praised for its realistic look at terrorism. At one point in the game, players will even take on the role of a terrorist. However, this level is optional, and players can choose to skip it. MW2 was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It had a global release date of November 10, 2009 for the Xbox 360 console.The campaign primarily follows the United States Army Rangers in their mission to stop a Russian terrorist. Like past Call of Duty games, the story will switch between characters at specific points in the game. However, the action will always remain the same no matter who you play as. As a first-person shooter, you'll use an array of weaponry to take down your foes. You'll wield everything from pistols to rocket launchers in this title. Like other first-person games of this era, your health regenerates if you remain in cover. This gameplay mechanic allows gamers to play more aggressively, similar to an action movie. At certain points, the game will deviate from its normal run-and-gun style of gameplay. On one mission, you'll find yourself in control of the gunner station in a helicopter. Another mission will have you fighting through the city after an EMP blast. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 features a high level of replayability as well. There are four difficulty levels for the campaign and over 20 collectibles to search for. Once you've finished the story, the single-player fun isn't over yet. The Spec Ops game type presents 23 additional missions for the player to complete. These operations use the same stages and enemies as the story mode. However, the objectives are very different. One Special Ops mission will task you with defusing bombs while another will throw waves of enemies at you. As you complete operations, you'll unlock harder versions of those missions and black ops games. This feature supports up to two gamers either locally or online.Like Call of Duty 4 and other games in the series, Modern Warfare 2 has over five different multiplayer modes. These modes range from team vs. team games to games where you must attack and defend locations. As you complete games, you'll level up your character. Each time you level up in this PS3 title, you'll earn new weapons, perks, and equipment. This Call of Duty PS3 title also includes the Killstreak feature from the previous Call of Duty title. If you defeat enough enemies without dying, you'll unlock a special ability. In MW2, these abilities range from seeing your opponents on the map to dropping a nuke on your opponents.This PlayStation 3 title has a rating of M by the ESRB. This rating is due to the violence, bloodshed, and mature situations found within this PS3 title. Whether playing as a single player or with friends, this PS3 title will provide hours of gaming. The Spec Ops game type along with online multiplayer gives this title an immense amount of replayability.
