Unlike the original four-CD release under the Topics logo, the Express Edition does not include the CD-ROM on Hummingbirds. The Birds of the World CD-ROM, an encyclopedia of various species of birds from around the world, provides over 650 photographs and illustrations, more than 30 minutes of video, over 300 bird calls, and a species search tool. Information includes endangered species, bird anatomy, courtship and mating rituals, migration cycles, and nesting habits. Webster's Encyclopedia of Australian Birds, similar in structure to the title CD, offers more than 40 minutes of video on the birds from "down under," 1,500 color images and sound samples, and matching text. Produced in conjunction with the Australian Museum, the encyclopedia provides details on birds in their natural habitat on the island continent. The North American Bird Reference Book gives birdwatchers a place to record their observations on 910 species, gather information about birds they encounter (both in North America and around the world), and listen to bird songs.
