An adventure thriller that deals with spirituality, psychological issues, and the supernatural, Beyond: Two Souls lets players witness 15 years in the life of Jodie Holmes, a young girl who has a mysterious connection to an invisible and incredibly powerful entity known as Aiden. Gamers join Jodie, voiced by actress Ellen Page, when she is just eight years old, and follow the emotional twists and turns of her life as she struggles to deal with her condition and interacts with government officials, including scientist Nathan Hawkins, played by Willem Dafoe. The gameplay in Beyond: Two Souls shares a great deal in common with developer Quantic Dream's previous game Heavy Rain. Players investigate the environments around them by using the analogue sticks, while object interaction and action sequences are handled through context-sensitive button presses and quick-time events. Gamers can also take control of Aiden and occasionally interact with the environment, sometimes directly helping Jodie, and sometimes scaring those around her. As was the case in Heavy Rain, the decisions gamers make in Beyond: Two Souls have lasting effects that can slightly alter the ultimate outcome of the story. This Special Edition comes in a SteelBook case and includes the full game, as well as a soundtrack, behind-the-scenes video features, a PS3 theme and avatars, and an exclusive 30-minute DLC scene.
