The I/O scan time per rack ranges from 10 ms at 57.6 kbit/s down to 3 ms at 230.4 kbits/s.Allen Bradley 1785-L40E series PLC-5 Processor/Controller has an integrated TCP/IP communication capability to communicate with other PLC-5 model processors, controllers, and host computers. The communication is enhanced by the unique architecture of the system. This complements the typical TCP/IP protocol offering peer-to-peer communication using PCL-5 message instructions. In addition, it is optimized for sequential and regulatory control in real time. It is also notable that this Allen Bradley PLC-5 series programmable product is the foundation of control architecture, which makes it compatible with other systems. The architecture is particularly suited for modern EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet devices. It also offers easy connectivity with SLC 500, ControlLogix, and MicroLogix. In fact, embedded network connections enable control architecture to connect to a variety of devices. The user-friendly front-panel of the Allen-Bradley 1785-L40E PLC-5 series is designed after extensive research with users. Accordingly, switches, buttons, and panels are located at appropriate locations for ease of access during normal operational setup. At the top of the hardware is a large round-shaped Keyswitch to select different modes. Located adjacent to the Keyswitch are various important indicators. These include a battery indicator, control indicator, force indicator, Channel O Communication Status indicator, Channel 2 Ethernet indicator, and Channel 2 Ethernet Transmitter indicator. Just underneath these indicators are a Channel 0-25 pin D-Shell serial port and RJ-45 connector. Below the indicator set and serial port is a vertical panel containing programming terminals, a memory module, and communication ports, among others. At the bottom of the hardware are the battery slot and the model number of the processor.The RJ-45 connector for the channel 2 communication port is a new addition to Allen-Bradley 1785-L40E PLC-5 product. Additional channel 2 communication is offered using an assortment of features. These include BOOTP, DHCP, static entry of IP address and auto-negotiate speed selection. In addition, this product also supports Full/Half Duplex port setting, 10/100 speed selection, email client functionality, enable/disable HTTP Web Server, and enable/disable SNMP functionality. This 1785L40E series also supports auto-negotiate speed selection. By leaving the auto-negotiate button unchecked, users can force the port setting to a specific speed and device. It can also negotiate a speed and duplex port setting. Even the auto-negotiate setting allows users to intervene by selecting a speed or duplex port for a semi-automatic setup.
