Product Information
Trainee therapists in groups often have to embark on an apprenticeship in which they learn by being an observer in a group or work almost immediately as a co-therapist. This is in many ways a good way of learning, but it is often difficult for the learner to go into his or her early groups with a full appreciation of the nature of intervention. This work book, written by senior and experienced practitioners, aims to give the trainee a practical insight into the ways in which experienced group analysts may tackle difficult situations facing a group therapist. Eight situations, drawn from real psychotherapy groups, are presented in detail to allow readers to exercise their own skills in taking decisions and making judgements about appropriate interventions. Each situation is then analyzed in depth by one of the authors, and the thinking behind group psychotherapists' interventions is set out and commented on. This text is intended to provide the trainee with a wide and informed appreciation of different situations arising in groups and appropriate ways of handling them, and should offer a base from which to start to practise.Product Identifiers
