While director and producer Steven Spielberg experienced big screen success in 1993, fans and critics agree that "Schindler's List" was his artistic triumph of that year. Packaged in standard DVD format, this movie is adapted from the best-selling book of the same name by author Thomas Keneally and, for authenticity's sake, was filmed in Poland. This film drama follows Catholic war profiteer Oskar Schindler, played by Liam Neeson, who risked his life and finances during the Holocaust to save over 1,000 Jews from extermination in Nazi concentration camps. "Schindler's List" famously achieves its lasting power not by concentrating just on Schindler and his motivations but by exploring the depth of determination, courage, and tight-rope diplomacy that was required of him and his helpers to carry out his good deeds. This sometimes tense and always touching drama also stars Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, Caroline Goodall, and Jonathan Segal. The DVD is formatted for widescreen and includes special features such as enhanced sound and picture, behind-the-scenes features, and biographical footage of the historical figures behind the story. "Schindler's List" has a run time of 195 minutes and is rated R.
