The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20B PLC is an enhanced, Ethernet PLC-5 programmable controller, brought to you by Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation. Ethernet PLC-5 controllers support use of the 1785-RC Relay Cartridge. The relay cartridge is an interface from the controller to an external device such as an Allen-Bradley 700P relay. The controller monitors your online ladder program edits and I/O forcing activity. The controller opens the relay, on the relay cartridge, for one second when it detects online ladder program edits and I/O forcing activity. Program your Allen Bradley Series B controller using ladder logic, BASIC, subroutines, sequential function charts, structured texts, or main control programs (MCPs). The 1785-L20B controller has 16K words of user memory. The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20B is a versatile piece of equipment, allowing for use as an extended-local I/O scanner. It also performs data storage and creates multiple file types. It allows you to specify I/O, logical, indirect, indexed, or symbolic addresses and transfer data to controller-resident I/O or to a remote I/O. The unit designates a remote I/O link and communicates to a remote I/O node adapter. You can also configure communication to a PLC-5 adapter channel, with a customizable rate, address, and rack size. You may also communicate with devices on a DH+ Link, a Serial Link or on an Ethernet network. By using this unit, you force inputs and outputs, force SFC transitions, increase program scan time, use selectable times or controller input interrupts, and create I/O forcing. Extending forcing with the Allen-Bradley series B PLC-5 controllers is useful with the 1771-SDN module. It allows you to force discrete I/O on a DeviceNet network or analog I/O. There are a wide range of controller configurations to employ for your system, such as configuring a controller channel as an adapter mode processor when you need predictable, real time data exchange between a distributed control adapter-mode controller channel and a supervisory controller. The remote I/O adapter processor channel exchanges data with a supervisory controller processor; you do not need ladder logic in the adapter controller for block-transfer instructions. All enhanced and Ethernet PLC-5 controllers are suitable supervisory controllers or remote I/O adapter modules. Use the extended-local I/O link when you need I/O updates more quickly than is possible from remote I/O link. Use your Allen-Bradley series B 1785 interface module for multi-hop messaging over an Ethernet. Controllers communicate with ControlLogix devices or through a ControlLogix Ethernet module to other PLC-5 and SLC controllers. Communications with your Allen-Bradley 1785-L20B PLC-5 may be protected using passwords and privilege classes. Protect program and data files by assigning them read/write privileges. The Allen-Bradley PLC-5 controller is programmable to prepare diverse fault routines, allowing you to detect faults in a controller-resident or extended local I/O rack, or a remote I/O chassis. Define fault routines and define watchdog timers, while avoiding multiple watchdog faults. With this you may also set alarms, test alarms, monitor and interrupt faults, and perform many other functions, in order to detect and respond to various types of faults.
