      At first, I was convinced this LCD wouldn’t work with the FT-897D – it had suspiciously few pins and was slightly over 1 mm wider and longer than the original. Still, I took the risk: desoldered the old one, soldered in the new. Surprisingly, it worked! Then came the delicate task of modifying the plastic display bracket – after a few hours of careful cutting and fitting, success. The radio now looks and works like new. Thank you!
