Tina Drescher analysiert die Problemgeschichte im Lichte des viktimologischen, des situationsbezogenen und des auf Kriminalitätskontrolle abstellenden Diskurses, präventive Aspekte inbegriffen. Sie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass sich die Gestalt des Problems der Pflegegewalt in vielerlei Hinsicht als Auswirkung der neueren theoretischen Ausrichtung in der kriminologischen Wissenschaft begreifen lässt.
