Synopsis
FDR was introduced to stamp collecting at eight years old and found it to be an educational pursuit. He maintained an open enthusiasm for his collection throughout his life and as president had a significant effect on worldwide acceptance of the hobby and its perception by the Department of the Post Office. As president, he oversaw more than 200 postage stamps released during his tenure, personally designed several stamps and built 406 post offices under his WPA program.
