SIB (THE APPLE) is an intriguing semi-documentary film from Iran directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf's daughter Samira. It tells the story of twin preadolescent Tehran girls confined for many years to the interior of their home by a blind mother and ultra-conservative father. Eventually, thanks to complaints from neighbors, the girls are liberated from what amounted to house arrest and given the opportunity to explore the outside world. Film quality is approximately that of a television transmission.
