A flight combat sim set at the onset of WWI, Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War -- Iron Cross Edition drops players in the cockpits of era-authentic aircraft and lets them engage in dogfights over more than 125,000 square kilometers of battle-scarred French topography. Gamers can climb into virtual versions of the Spad 13.C1, the Fokker D. VII, and the Nieuport 28.C1, and then get acclimated to the controls through training and single-player combat missions. The "Pilot Career" mode lets armchair aviators fly historically accurate campaigns for the French, British, German, and American air forces, with missions requiring precision strikes on enemy aircraft and ground forces. In addition to flight mechanics designed to provide an accurate reconstruction of WWI-era flying, Rise of Flight also features a realistic damage model and true-to-life fog, rain, and sunshine. Gamers who grow tired of computer competition can join friends for online co-op or competitive multiplayer challenges, while the "Mission Editor" lets creative players design custom campaigns.
