A series of grisly prostitute murders leaves citizens in London's Whitechapel district terrified, and Sherlock Holmes is called in to find the culprit: a man the press has dubbed Jack the Ripper, who seemingly leaves behind no evidence and no clues as to his true identity. Players can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives as they navigate London's seamy underworld, scouring crime scenes for anything the police may have missed, interviewing locals, and interrogating mysterious suspects.
