The peltier module in the center has been super effective at keeping my Asus ROG Strix 17" gaming laptop about 8 to 10 °F cooler than it was with standard fan coolers. It is an incredible value in today's cooler market. As to appearance the led lighting is on the muted side and perfect for me, as many led coolers can be super bright and on the gaudy side. I wish this had been made clear in the description.
