Eye of the Beholder marks the beginning of the graphical fantasy role playing genre based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game system. The interface is simple point and click as the player moves through dangerous dungeon-like locations employing a 3D viewpoint. Considered the first in their Legends Series computer games, TSR, Inc. and SSI created Eye of the Beholder, a fantasy excursion into the grisly underworld of the City of Waterdeep where you'll lead a party of four characters (a mix of races and classes) plus two non-player characters.<br><br>Through the use of weapons and magic your party will slog it's way through the sewers of Waterdeep confronting and eliminating an entire menagerie of beasts and dark beings such as Beholders (aka Eye Tyrant or Sphere of Many Eyes), Driders (spidery creatures), Hell Hounds, Kobolds, giant leeches and spiders, Mantis Warriors, Mind Flayers, zombies and skeletons (to name a few). Each of your four characters has unique abilities and attributes and grows stronger as experience points accumulate. The basic fare of role playing includes six different class distinctions, nine possible ideological alignments (e.g., Lawful Good, Chaotic Evil), six races (human, elf and half-elf, dwarf, halfling and gnome) and six natural ability scores. Eye of the Beholder is based on AD&D 2nd Edition rules.
