Data sheet says that the unit operates on 9 to 16 volts (which is a poor choice seeing how modern track voltage is 18 Volts and most signal drivers w\work at 5 Volts!), but the signal works very well at 5 Volts (it actually is too bright at voltages above 10 Volts) and the in-line resistor can be easily changed for higher voltages. Excellent value.
