Wofur stehen die zwei Frauen oder was versinnbildlichen sie in den Epen, und welche Ziele erreichen Homer und Vergil dadurch, dass sie Odysseus und Aeneas zusammen mit ihren Gefahrten diesen weiblichen Gestalten begegnen lassen? Wenn Frauengestalten der klassischen Antike untersucht werden, egal ob in dem historischen Alltag oder in der Literatur, wird haufig an die androzentrische Perspektive und UEberlieferung der Quellen erinnert: Griechische und lateinische Epik wurden von Mannern verfasst, von Mannern aufgenommen und die Epen befassten sich uberwiegend mit mannlichen Leistungen, deren Schwerpunkt auf die Etablierung ihrer sozialen Identitat und auf die politische Bedeutung ihrer Handlungen lag. Umso wichtiger erscheint es, einen Fokus auf das Weibliche in den Werken zu legen.
